Fitting In

This New Zealand grasshopper has the ability to take on the colour of its surroundings. It was green, but as the grass and other vegetation dies off it is turning brown. I saw it only when it moved. Fortunately it remained still for a minute, enabling me to get a decent shot of it. I could just see it with my eyes, but not through the camera. I aimed at a spot to the left of the blown-out dead strand of grass. This was the best of 11 shots.
