Indian Food Tour
This morning I went up to the east end of London as I had organised an Indian Food Tour as one of my events for the parents' arts society. We met our guide in the Whitechapel/Brick Lane area and were taken to our first stop, The Lahore Kebab House. Despite the dubious name, the restaurant served us the most delicious tandoori lamb chops, paneer, salad, naan breads and some curried cassava. (It was after noon by now so this was an early lunch!) We were also taken into their kitchen where I took a photo of the naan breads being baked in the tandoori oven.
We went on to a few other restaurants, eating authentic Indian and Bengali dishes, with each one being explained to us - and not a chicken tikka masala in sight! We also visited a sweet shop where they make sweet gulaab jamuns and other delights. We then visited an Indian supermarket where they sell every possible spice you can imagine and all the types of rice too - at ridiculously cheap prices. It was a great day out and we all came home not needing dinner!
I am now off to our monthly camera group meeting, I think we are doing some night time photography.
