Sunset on a beautiful day

Today truly felt like a spring day - wall to wall sunshine all day, and there was proper heat in the sunshine too. In winter the day often starts sunny but the sunshine seems to disappear by midday - today it lasted all day, glorious! I went out later again to see the sun setting and this was taken just before sunset.

Happy Valentine's Day to everyone! Gavin is not in my good books...he awoke to a card propped up on his bedside table whereas I woke up to....nothing....he forgot my card at his office! Oh well, he may be forgiven as we are going out to supper tonight - just to a local restaurant, not fine dining. And Luke will be with us - he arrived late this afternoon from Durham as he has a check up with the surgeon tomorrow morning and then he is getting the next train straight back to Durham so that he can make his afternoon seminar session. A long way to come just for a quick checkup, but it is necessary so had to be done.

Tomorrow Thomas leaves school at lunch time to travel to Belgium (by coach) for his choir tour. They are staying in Ypres and singing in a church in De Panne, at the cathedral in Bruges, at the Last Post Ceremony at Menin Gate in Ypres, and a further concert at the church in Ypres. Gavin and I leave tomorrow for Switzerland, and Thomas will join us on Monday night. Don't think he will do too much skiing as he has mocks after half term so has to work.
