Rain rain go away ....
Oh well, we are yet to experience the mythical Hawaii of endless sunny days and glowing red sunsets. It's raining and sometimes pouring, and then occasionally the sun dares to peek out from behind the clouds. We should be able to see the mountains beyond the trees in our garden, but they are draped in clouds and rain. It is the wet season after all, but what's unusual are the temperatures.
Yesterday I didn't get to write my entry because we had a late night at the movies - the Academy Award-nominated documentaries were showing at the cinema. Well worth it, though very heavy going. Stories of racism and denying one's own self to fit in, approaching death with open arms, saving refugees from the Mediterranean, Nazi presence in the US in 1939 and making sanitary pads for young girls in India. Thankfully, there was at least one light story as the others were like punches in the belly. Again, a lovely evening - dinner at a Japanese restaurant with Angie, Jan and Mitch and then Bob and Diana with their guests joined us at the cinema. I had been able to have my heart-opening walk on the beach in the morning and heart-palpitating swim at the Y during the day.
Today was another story. I woke to rain, so I wasn't able to enjoy that special moment on the beach. So I did some work. There's always so much more to do than I would like to do or manage to get done. So I continue. A trip to the Y, in the gym as it was too cool and wet for the pool. And then back to my music lesson after afternoon tea. I have to fight my critical voices that are starting to shout disparagingly at me - it's the plateau stage where progress slows down and I start to question if I'll ever manage to play an instrument half decently. Be kind, I respond!!!
