Black and White Village.

Courtesy of amazon I discovered last week an author whom I'd never heard of before, Phil Rickman, who is based in the Welsh Marches. He seems to be writing a few series of novels and amazon's Kindle deal of the day on the 1st December offered the first four of his series featuring Merrily Watkins at 99p each. They are set in Herefordshire, a county which is in close contention to be my favourite English county and one which I know very well. So I downloaded them immediately and have enjoyed them so much that I am almost near the end of the second book.

This morning, when V and I got up there had been a heavy frost but the sky was bright blue and the sunshine was beautiful. I checked the weather for Leominster in Herefordshire and the forecast was for the same weather there. So V packed a picnic and I grabbed my new camera so that we could explore and photograph the black and white villages for which that county is famous.

There was only one snag, by the time we'd got half way to Leominster the weather had turned misty and damp and the top temperature hovered between 1° and 2° C. We did visit Pembridge and Weobley but we gave the other villages that we had earmarked to visit a miss and were home by mid afternoon.

Today's blip is The Kings House, Pembridge.
