Beetle on a ballcock.....
The usual weekend type day . Feeding cattle, carting Junior to the bus and back, and another cow calved. That’s me officially finished the autumn calving . They start in August , and all the experts tell you that you should only leave the bulls in for 6 weeks, have a tight calving pattern and sell any barren cows. Well unfortunately that’s not how it works here, and with the price of replacing late cows with a heifer to keep cow numbers up I take the view that a late calf you can sell is better than no calf to sell. Mind you , I’m not an expert !
Found this huge beetle clinging to the ballcock in a water trough today. Fished him out and put him on the ground. Once I had googled him it turns out he might be a diving beetle and was quite happy in the water ! Who knows .
