S Appleby & Daughters
A visit to Beamish Museum today. As it was half term it was busy and there was lots going on. I noticed this vehicle and liked the 'S Appleby & Daughters' sign on it. Apparently it is a Ford Thames 10 cwt 1953 van. From1953 until 1997 it had one owner - a farmer I think. It has had two further owners since then and has appeared in lots of period dramas etc.
I have enclosed a few extras from the day. Did anyone else's mam or grandma use Reckitt's Blue Bag (or Dolly Blue as we used to call them)? The little blue bag was stirred around in the final rinse water on washday to help keep white fabrics sparkling. I remember them well.
