Cheeky Monkey
I just had Scarlett again today as Violet was at nursery, and we went to the Monkey Forest at Trentham which is an amazing place where 140 Barbary Macaques roam free in a natural habitat, not in cages and you can get very close to them.
Barbary Macaques are classified as endangered and The Monkey Forest work with organisations to help protect the wild Barbary Macaques and raise public awareness of the need to protect this endangered species. They have three sister parks and currently over 600 monkeys have been successfully reintroduced into their natural habitat in the Atlas Mountains in Morocco, which is the long term goal for these parks.
We had a lovely day wandering around the forest in the sunshine, it was really warm too at an incredible 16.5 degrees! We watched the monkeys being fed and sat very close to them and watched them playing, and this little monkey who’s two years old was our favourite. They're hoping that there'll be some new babies born in May so I think Scarlett is going to ask her mummy and daddy to take her back.
After lunch we had another quick wander in the forest and then Scarlett had a play on the park, and finally had her face painted. We then set off home to pick Violet up from nursery as Rach had been into Liverpool for girls day out as her friend Jayne is visiting from Canada. The girls came back here as they wanted to see Scarlett and Violet and as it's Rachel's birthday tomorrow, she opened a bottle of prosecco. It was nice to see Jayne and hear about her Canadian adventures as they only moved out there a year ago.
Rach was invited back to Sam's where Jayne was staying overnight and she asked me if I'd mind her going - of course I didn't, and I had a nice evening chatting to Scott.
I can't believe that tomorrow my little girl will be 34, where have those years gone!
