Bishnoi Villages
Another wonderfully warm day - a bit chilly early in the morning as there was a cold wind - but by about ten o'clock it was lovely again. We took the Jeep again, this time to go and visit some families in the villages. This gent in my main blip showed us the Opium ceremony - we had to taste it before he ground it with water and have a small drink when he'd finished - said it would cure all ills! Tasted of nothing much thankfully! We spend a good amount of time here - they were very hospitable. The old lady in extras is 92.
We also visited another family where we were shown where they used to live, their new house, cow's house etc. Another hospitable family.
After this we went to the Village where 363 people were killed in the 1730's when they tried to stop their Kheiri trees being cut down by the soldiers of Maharajah of Jodhpur. A memorial has been built and the locals have built a new Temple near the site with friezes inside telling the story.
Back home for lunch of beer and pakora and a relaxing afternoon.
Apologies for not commenting - time just seems to vanish and the internet is just not reliable. Hopefully I will be better again when I get home! Had to back blip a few days today.
