Snow day

There had been rumours all week that there would be a snow day this week, but I didn't quite believe it. Last night it was my department's Christmas night out and even though there wasn't a drop of snow my colleagues were convinced that we would be meeting up today to go sledging!

At 6am this morning there was no snow and an email from school to say that school was definitely open. By 6.30am we had received several text messages from school to say that they had had to reverse the decision as in the last 30 mins the snow had come down really heavily and the school buses couldn't get through! Result! Especially as Olivia had a temperature of 39.3 degrees so couldn't attend school anyway. We ended up having a really productive day as I did loads of cleaning, hubby sorted through a mountain of paper work and then in the afternoon all four of us walked to the corner of the street to select our Christmas tree.

We spent the rest of the afternoon decorating the tree and dancing to Christmas music (Olivia having made a great recovery). Dexters current favourite Christmas song is Frosty the Snowman ("again Mummy again"), and Olivia's is Rockin' Around The Christmas Tree.

As for the snow - it had more or less all gone by lunchtime!
