Kingfisher excitement!

As you can see, the photographic excitement I mentioned yesterday was a trip to photograph kingfishers. So we spent 7 hours today in a specially-built hide near Droitwich Spa. The kingfisher only made 2 trips for a fishy snack during that time, so a lot of chinwagging occurred between these brief episodes. But I was rather pleased with the results, of which you can see three examples here.

Please look large if you've time.

Techy details: The diving shots were taken on my EM1 with the 40-150 lens; the "Procapture" mode and the 18 shots/second rapid fire were invaluable. The perch shots were taken on my little EM10 using the 300mm lens.

(I've been processing these on my laptop in the car as my kind colleague is driving; I'm uploading them from the M1 near Nottingham. Not the easiest job as the mouse keeps making unscheduled movements as we pass over bumps in the road...I've plenty more shots to process at home over the next few days.)

We were so lucky with the weather. What a fabulous day we had!
