Siamese style Wat Sisakat, Vientiane, Laos

Today we started off with a visit to another temple, Wat Sisaket, originally built in the Siamese style in 1818, survived the sacking of Vientiane by the Siamese, and has been restored, 1924 - 30 by the French colonial government.   It has a cloister with some 2000 statues of the Buddha.

We went on to the COPE visitor centre which exhibits the work being done in rehabilitating amputees, most of whom are victims of UXO (Unexploded Ordnance)  The museum provides yet another story to the shame of USA. Over 500,000 bombing raids were flown over Laos, and it is estimated that some 80,000,000, yes eighty million UXOs are still buried in Laos, hence the continuing killing and maiming of innocent humans to this day.   Bear in mind, USA signed a Geneva convention which specifically prohibited bombing of Laos, a neutral country undergoing it’s own civil war at the same time. Nixon should have been prosecuted for war crimes, IMHO.
Extras map illustrates RED bombed areas in this Secret War which went on for 9 years.  Laos was also a dumping ground for US bombers which failed to find their Vietnam.target, to discharge their weaponry to avoid the hassles in landing fully loaded.  Shit on them!!!!!
