Women bearing firewood.
Day17 (04/03) Munnar to Alleppey, Kerala.
Moving day again. Sorry to leave the last Hill Station on this trip. It was unexpectedly warmer than Kodaikanal, and very green all around. If it wasn't for the tea plantations and the dreadfully thin cows, and of course the palm trees, you could be up the west coast of Scotland, about 50 years ago. Sh-tty single track roads, and livestock upon the verges.
It was another 6 hour drive today, largely uneventful for us, but very eventful for the people in the three crashes we came across. Nothing serious, but all disruptive to those concerned. The driving is atrocious, by UK standards, but there are surprisingly few serious accidents although we did see the aftermath of a straight head on a couple of days ago, which I'm sure included fatalities.
Not much to photograph en-route so I'm having to make do with a slightly distorted capture of some women at work, laden with firewood.
The extras today are to illustrate this nation's ability to overload anything or anyone.
Staying for 2 nights in a really fancy hotel. Had a swim in the slightly murky pool on assurance from the custodian-of-the-towels that there were no unseen dangers lurking.
Dinner included here so off to sample the delights of 5* scran.
Ramorra . . . .
