Adaptation

Working on behalf of a well known charity, I spent the last two days in intensive discussions about early years development. It's a fascinating topic and I learned a lot.  My biggest takeaway is that synaptic pruning (the paring back of unnecessary brain cell functions) actually starts in-utero at 21 weeks.  Already, the foetus is learning what the external environment will expect of it and is adapting even before birth.  My pic of pretty colours pales into insignificance in the light of my new learnning!
