A Different Perspective
We walked a different way around the Belair Railway Station - this shot shows you the Victorian buildings and entrance to the National Park down the far end of the platform.
Back in the 1890's a horse drawn wagon used to collect people at the station and drive them down to the recreation areas in the valley. Or, if you were an intrepid walker, you could walk into the park and walk the trails down to the lower levels.
In between the signal box and the park entrance there used to be a little refreshment room - sadly long since demolished.
The sign says "The National Park": because back in the 1890's there was only one National Park in the State and Belair was it. We were actually the second National Park in Australia (after Sydney) and the 6th in the world.
