A sad day
This morning I attended a funeral in Nelson. My friend's daughter had an operation in Auckland last week, to fix a hole in her heart. These operations are done all the time - but this one went horribly wrong. The 'balloon' that had been inserted into her heart to be inflated and block off the hole, moved after the operation, and raptured her aorta. She was starved off oxygen, and was rushed back into theatre to try and stop the bleeding. That operation lasted for 6 hours, but unfortunately she was declared brain dead, and nothing could be done to save her life. Life support was turned off last Saturday - and she died instantly. The sad thing was that this young lady was in her early twenties, in the prime of her life. And this is something that has never happened before. So very sad. Going to this funeral, made me realise how precious life is - enjoy your family and friends, and get out there and do the most that you can with your life.
I got home at 6.40pm - Farmerboy had been busy and cooked tea, and it was so nice! But I realised that I still hadn't taken a photo for today. I went outside and took some photos of our bottle brush tree. This tree always flowers at Christmas - the Tui's love sitting in the tree and sucking the nectar from the flowers.
We had another hot day here - 27.5 degrees C.
