Dolling Up The Window, Lenham

Decided to go and try (for the third time - the first two times it was closed) and visit the Process Gallery in Sandway (see extra image) which is run by Nick Veasey. He's an artist who specialises in using  x-rays (which he produces himself) to represent his subject matter. The images are absolutely superb and fascinating to look at. In one he x-rayed a Mini - to do so he had to take the Mini apart, x-ray it's constituent parts and then put all the images together in photoshop. He was there in the gallery when we arrived and showed us around while explaining his working processes. He even processes the film himself - I immediately recognised the smell of developer, stop bath and fixer! I'm so glad I went and will be going back again when he has new exhibitions - not just of his work but other artists as well.
On the way back we visited the small village of Lenham which is caught in a bit of a time warp. The first pub we tried to get a drink in had a big pool table and the football on so loud that you couldn't hear yourself think properly. So we tried a second one - this time the landlady, who only had one top tooth, proceeded to tell us in no uncertain fashion that we would have to wait a while for food (we had only just picked up a menu) as a large table had only just come in (the rest of the pub was virtually empty!). We moved on to the tearoom - all squeaky laminated tablecloths and bizarre artwork, but at least the food came relatively quickly. Today's main shot was taken on the way out of the village. The window display struck me as I find those types of dolls with the scary eyes ever so slightly creepy!
