Emmanuel Head
The day started with the predicted snowfall (see extra) but the rain eased off around noon, perfect timing as the causeway to Holy Island only became navigable at 12:05. We took the decision to drive over (the walk from our cottage would have been too muddy and, given the uncertainty of the weather, too long).
Once there, we stopped for lunch before embarking on a circular walk via the Priory, the Castle and this obelisk (a day-marker built as an aid to navigation in 1810 apparently) at Emmanuel Head. The conditions cleared as the afternoon wore on, but it was extremely windy. Then, just as we neared the car park, the rain started again. No complaints, though, as the weather had been much better than expected, especially after the unpromising start to the day.
We avoided the need to dig out the Monopoly board (see yesterday's entry) and, moreover, we're still speaking to one other.
