Fresh nori
Low tide exposes all sorts of hidden treasures among them these cellophane-thin sheets of translucent seaweed that drape across the rocks on which it grows. In Wales it's known as laver which, boiled and chopped, is sold in shops and markets as a traditional accompaniment to a fried breakfast (see here for my blip of the laver stall in Swansea market.)
Under its Japanese name nori it's marketed, dried in sheets, for wrapping sushi or as a nutritious, iodine-rich addition to soups etc.
I'm going to dehydrate this in order to add it, crumbled, to my sourdough bread dough. Visitors to the bathroom should not be surprised to find a little washing line of fresh seaweed drying there (second extra) - should I say sori?
