Walking round Barcelona (part one)
After heavy rain yesterday evening, woke to glorious sunshine and surreal blue skies. Took the bus to Barcelona from the site - an hour and 10 minutes in comfort and we were right beside Las Ramblas so it would have been rude not to walk down them.
Quick pit stop at the market for some tapas and a beer then onto the harbour side before plunging back into the gothic quarter. Found a lovely little cafe for more tapas and a glass of wine (cheaper than the coke my husband had) before heading to the Picasso museum - didn’t realise he had started painting at such a young age. We then walked towards La Sagrada to get our bearing for our visit tomorrow. On the way we passed a little barber shop which was run by a lovely lady from Milan called Valentina - she introduced herself to my OH and made a good job of sorting out his hair (or what’s left of it - fairly typical for a an of his age!).
Passed the Judicual palace (main blip) and then under the Arc de Triomphe (must find out why there is one here) before taking the metro to La Sagrada. Walked on a few blocks for my OH to visit a model shop - great stock but slightly more expensive than back home.
Back to the metro to get back to the bus stop and now sitting using the free Wi-fi in the restaurant.
The extras are the entrance to the market and a lovely tiled public drinking water spot plus a shot of ‘Lady with green stockings’ which just spoke to me.
