Old Meets New

Have we gone from 'a to bad' with all this new technology? My friends daughter said she thinks we are allowing children to become rude because they can talk to these new gadgets in such a way without being guided by appropriate manners. Books vs buttons (or not even it's actually voice activated tech). What do you think?
