Lotions and Potions
This was new to me, nuns selling their wares on the street, cough remedies, cures for warts, holy pictures, and who knows what else.
I headed down west this morning on a whim. I had no plans and the whole day ahead of me. I had heard the Skibbereen market was worth a visit. So after our walk on the Warren Strand we headed that way.
It was a real treat, all sorts of colourful stalls and characters. One lady fed her dog (who had a seat to himself), and spoke to him like one might to a slightly dotty husband. She asked me how the Kinsale market compared to this one and said it was probably full of posh people. It seems the market is only getting going again after the winter, I will definitely return in the summer when it will be in full swing.
Skibbereen really is a treat for a photographer with all the interesting shopfronts and alleyways. I am not so comfortable taking sneaky photos of people, so I saw lots but didn't capture. I spent my time looking over my shoulder in case I was the subject of a sneaky photographer who inhabits the area!
Anyway, a lovely day out, with a few extras.
