Diary of an Edinburgher

Slight hiccup...

Well, I’ve had a slight hiccup in the health department - but it's all under control now! My breathlessness (which I’ve been whingeing about for a long time on blip) has rather rapidly got worse this past week, with chest pains at the slightest activity - I was mopping the hallway for the weekend, and I had to keep stopping. I figured something wasn’t right...

So on Saturday morning I rang NHS24. Got an appointment, and the doctor sent me straight to the hospital.

Upshot is, yes - as I’ve long suspected (but it didn’t seem to occur to my GP) - angina, like my dear old mum. However, I’m in the right place, they're doing everything possible.

I'm in a cardio ward with three older women, and I do feel a bit of a fraud. I'm perfectly fine, but the other ladies are in pretty bad states, poor souls. Archie would go crazy with the continuous electronic beepings. But at last least I’ve got a flushing toilet, and even a shower! Free WiFi, too. I asked if I could have a second pillow (I just have a wee flat thing) and the nurse said, 'We're out of pillows...'

Great meal - soup, lasagne, and rice pudding! Yum yum.
