Ducks at Dawn

We did our monthly Wetlands Bird Survey this morning, starting at dawn. There were good numbers of birds around, the star species being Oystercatchers, feeding in one of the fields by the reservoir. As always, there were Mandarin Ducks, although they are beginning to disperse, presumably to seek out their nesting sites. The weather was bright and sunny, but the wind was bitterly cold. We were home by 9:30am
