Marjorie's ramblings

Happy memories

I walked through the woods and by the river at Acomb today. Suddenly the woods are alive with wood anemones (see extra). I found a couple of patches of coltsfoot.

Our lovely walking friend, Mike, used to call all yellow flowers coltsfoot. This meant that he was never correct ( to my knowledge) because they have such a short flowering period in March and are not the most obvious of the Asteraceae species! I suspect he did it to wind me up.

When I see coltsfoot flowers I think of Mike and the many happy walks we had together over the years before his sudden death.

Otherwise we are battling on. There is no word about when the work will continue so I have sent a slightly strongly worded email to the chap in charge about my concerns!

Tynedale Photo Group tonight. 17 of us showed 6 images of Newcastle each. I wished I had chosen some different ones from my project, but that's the way it goes. As usual, there were many different approaches to the subject. It was the last meeting for this season, but we will have a couple of times when we can meet up in the summer, just to keep in touch.
