Matsumoto

Matsumoto is famous for its black and white castle [see extra] the oldest in Japan, apparently - and indeed it was worth seeing - but its other claim to fame is being the birthplace of Yayoi Kusama. The Matsumoto City Museum of Art is dedicated to her and houses several of her works. I didn’t realise this before I decided to go but I am glad I went.
