Violets
Violets seem to be adept at establishing themselves more or less anywhere, and these are in a pot housing a dwarf acer. Presumably seed has blown in and off they go. They're a bit of a weed on the flower borders, but so charming in flower that it sometimes seems hard to root them out, although they do tend to take over a bit if not kept in check.
The acer has lovely deep red leaves all season, but I think it'll be a while yet before the buds break.
