Patiently waiting

I wandered along to the Christmas Market at lunchtime and I was pleased to see so many tourist couples in the gardens who must have been here for the weekend, or perhaps just making a day trip into the city for Christmas shopping. I must admit at the beginning of the week this site depresses me a little as that is what I would much rather be doing!

I spotted a row of couples sitting on benches looking up at the Castle and I was perplexed as I couldn't see anything out of the ordinary. But then I heard the gun and realised they had been patiently waiting for the 1 o'clock event. I gave this the sepia treatment as I like to think of couples and families doing this since 1861.
