The Muruika Soldiers' memorial at Ōhinemutu

Today We visited the Muruika Soldiers' memorial at Ōhinemutu, Rotorua where soldiers rest who served the Commonwealth in many campaigns and wars. This was not only those who died during fighting but those who enjoyed the peace since. So refreshing to see ex servicemen honoured this way.

The graves are raised above ground because the earth is so hot because the thermal heat around Rotorua. Behind you can see the local Anglican Church, St. Faiths a beautiful church with Maui carvings and decorations.

Before this we visited the Redwoods, a very busy activity area for the locals. In true Kiwi style the toilets are not standard. Why can’t all ‘cans’ done with such style?
