First day in Kyoto

I travelled to Kyoto on the bullet train and was there before lunchtime!
There are temples everywhere! I went see Ginkaku-ji Temple which is close to my hostel and happens to be a World Heritage site, and I can see why. I particularly enjoyed the zen garden which climbed up to offer a great viewpoint.
I walked the Path of Philosophy [extra], famous for its cherry blossom but they were not quite fully in bloom yet - it was still very pleasant. Then off to Gion, where many people had gathered to see illuminated cherry blossom [extra].
