Hingin Oot, poshly

On the sunny side of Northumberland St in Edinburgh's New Town, a properly laid table, with white cloth, is set out on the entrance way that bridges the 'area' below.

For those of you unfamiliar with the Scots term 'hingin oot', it describes a popular tenement pastime from before the days of TV. Open the lower casement, place a cushion or pillow on the sill, cross your arms across your chest and lean on the cushion for greater comforr as you lean out to watch the world go by.
