Rhododendron

Today's the day ……………………. to cultivate

Like other ericaceous plants, most rhododendrons prefer acid soils.  We did have a few bushes in our garden in Kendal and although they did flower, I don't suppose they were all that happy in the lime-rich soil that we had there.

In our new garden, there is a massive hedge of them - and lots of camellias and azaleas too.  It's rather a treat to have them and exciting to see what colour they are when the flowers open up.
