Diary of an Edinburgher

Jobs done!

A LOT of activity today! Many jobs done including the grass cut, washing hung out, all the kitchen cabinets oiled, and - best of all - I sawed 2cm off the kitchen table legs.

It's a problem that shorter people will notice - most restaurant and cafe tables are slightly too high for us shorties, but we just put up with it (and sometimes ask for a cushion). I had added little rubber stoppers on to the chairs to raise them up a bit, which made the chairs slightly too high for comfort.

And so today, after Isobel took Archie out, we marked the legs, tipped the table on its side, and I set to with my reciprocating saw. Bingo! The saw shuddered a bit. So did I, but we managed. I took the rubber stoppers off the chairs, and yes! Comfort at last. Amazing how much difference an inch makes.

The neighbours came in for a chat - he’s the one with the drone. We nearly got it out for a play, but decided to do it another day and go up Blackford Hill.

I then popped into town to pick up a 'click and collect' item, and then had a dander through Princes Street Gardens. They were looking absolutely gorgeous. The Ross fountain was sparkling and people were sitting around enjoying the sunshine. What an asset for the city.

The painter came to do the next coat. We’d really like it all to be finished now, it’s dragging on a bit...
