Great Mell Fell
After washing the van (taking up the kind offer of J and A’s hosepipe and warm water, close by where I park) and then doing some gardening, I went up Mell Fell seeing as it was getting a bit late and knowing it would be hectic everywhere. It’s always such a rewarding Fell, every tree is an individual and part of the Mell Fell community. I love it, even if there’s a biting easterly blowing. The ponies that were on the summit last Saturday have retreated to the lower slopes (extra). As I came down I couldn’t face the shops so gathered some garlic mustard, a few nettles and mixed it with young ground elder shoots and made up a pesto for tea. and now there’s The Adventures of Tintin ... perfect!
...later, cooling down stood at the back door, I saw my first house martin of the year and a sparrow hawk shot through overhead, fast as a bullet.
