Orange tulips
I blipped the same tulips a week or two back (more or less as shown in the extra), but they're looking so lovely now that I decided to take some more photos while they were at their best. I hadn't noticed before that they seem to have two slightly differently shaped sets of petals, one inside the other, which creates something like the appearance of a propeller.
We've decided that after the tulips are over we're going to dig out this border and re-plant. Some of the current perennials here aren't thriving, and a clear-out will give me chance to eradicate the Spanish bluebells and some remnants of ground elder. So, a bit of designing coming up, for stony clay which dries rapidly in midsummer. No matter how much compost gets incorporated into it, the problem seems to persist.
