I Know this is Another Fly

... But I don't know what sort it is. It might be a Robber Fly - but it was way over the other side of the bush and I couldn't get a profile on it. Anyway if it is a Robber it's most likely a female one,and it's got the long gangly legs of a Robber.

But on the other hand it might be an obscure kind of hoverfly.

Whatever!

Because I couldn't get all that close to it, you had the option of clear wings and fuzzy body, or clear body and fuzzy wings. I went for the latter.

UPDATE: UPDATE: the most wonderful and esteemed Mollyblobs and her partner Pete believe this to be some kind of stiletto fly (I know, I'd never heard of them either). I think they are right.
