Murder, Mystery and Mayhem
First of all, we had the Robber Fly. Then we had the Stiletto Fly. And now... ta dah... we have the assassin bug.
It's not been that good a blip day - and I know, they can't all be good. But I think this might be a bit of a portent of things to come in January and February when things really start to hot up. It's going to be early mornings or nothing as far as blips go.
Back to today - we went out for a Christmas lunch with our friend and employee, at the local Mexican Cantina, so I was kind of behind the 8 ball from the start. And this afternoon is fairly warm, really not much was happening in Belair. And no time to go to the Creek or to the Park.
So we are the back garden, and we are looking at an orange assassin bug (Gminatus australis), who is pretty well lit by the sun and looks good on the yellow heads of the fennel. I've blipped this bug before, a long time ago, but this is a much better image.
