A day at sea

Two days at sea as we head for Lisbon.

It’s quite bouncy, and sunny. I love just looking at the ocean. I haven’t seen any sea creatures yet but I’m wearing my binoculars as a kind of necklace and I live in hope.

It’s a small ship, with 70 passengers. After a week you know most by sight and some very well. They are great. It’s a fabulous group of interesting and energetic people.

But on sea days it’s hard to find a peaceful corner (apart from your cabin and that’s not ideal.) You have no such difficulty on the huge vessels - worth bearing that in mind as you research possible trips.

Small ships can only have a small range of “entertainment”. No problem when the itinerary is fabulous and there’s lots to see.

Sea days are a chance to relax - Extra lectures but the Serenissima has its difficulties. Our naturalist has had to stay in hospital for tests after he collapsed, but we hear he’s doing well.

Michael the chef to the rescue. Here are his fruit and vegetable creations.

EDIT: we’ve seen a couple of whales - well, you see the blow and then a bit of black. It’s exciting.
