A Great Crested Grebe in its mating plumage - in winter it loses the orange and black ruff and its neck and face are white with a little black cap. Lots of grebes at RSPB Dungeness today. Also saw some curlews, an endangered species and not something I've seen often. And garganey - scarce and shy; it's a real treat to see them. There were the usual runners and riders too; marsh harrier, egrets, herons, swans, blackcaps, coots, cormorants, and lots more.

After the reserve I went to the Little Railway Café for a cup of tea and a Bakewell tart.

All up it's been a lovely day and I've walked a few miles in the sun so that's good.
