Grouse

We had a fairly quiet Easter day as the kids have a big day of travel tomorrow and didn't fancy doing much.

11yo and I walked out along Moorside in the afternoon, where we saw our first swallows of the year, and lots of Peacock butterflies. I was half expecting to see a plume of smoke from the high moors in the direction of Ilkley, which is only five miles away, but I think the fire which had been burning since yesterday must have been brought under control by then.

I popped out on the moor again in the evening, and this was one of a few Red Grouse I stumbled across.
