Scenic golfing
Quite often, the weather is pretty dire for Easter — but not this year. The whole weekend was delightful, with reasonable temperatures and long-lasting sunshine.
We were invited to Carl's mum's for Easter lunch. Before going over there I treated myself to a little detour up to Howth Castle. It was a bit misty, so the view over Dublin Bay wasn't at its spectacular best, but it was still wonderful to spend a little time there and almost envy the golfers who were on the course which reputedly has some really spectacular holes.
Carl's family home is in Killiney, perched on a hillside which looks across the Irish Sea towards Wales. This was the first time I've visited when we were able to eat al fresco and it was a lovely experience: a smashing traditional Easter lunch of leg of lamb with all the trimmings with not just Carl's mum but also her great little dog Rupert for company.
After lunch we had a Guinness or two in the Druid's Chair nearby and continued on to Carl's place for the rest of the day. Extras show Rupert admiring the view and the table setup on the terrace.
