Speed Bonny Boat
I so always wanted to be on a boat, heading to Skye and today we did.
We reached Mallaig, travelling from Fort William, via GlenFinnan - (well I'm not sure you can actually go any other way) - It was a gorgeous morning - and the sailing was fine. I'm a terrible sailor - I love sailors, but I can't sail.
Skye was as beautiful as we anticipated and we covered the WHOLE island in a day.
We drove east and stopped off at a little distillery for breakfast - and whisky :-) .
Then we headed for The Fairy Pools. - The road was long and windy and single track. And then we found the car park - and then we spoke to the man in the car park who said "the first pool is about 30 minute walk". Oh dear god. It was all down hill, And then of course, it would be all uphill.
But we set off. Me clinging for dear life to himself. The kids bounded on ahead.
I was so pleased with myself to have made it to the first pond, and then I decided to sit. Himself took another wander further on - for another mile or so. I sat on the remains of a croft and contemplated the world, and all the HOOMANS.
Then himself came back and we started the walk back, which we broke into blocks of 50 steps.
AND WE Made it! *See Extra for the actual distance covered.
Then we drove further west and upland, heading for the Old Man of Storr, but we kept finding pretty places and stopping and walking.
Eventually we made it to Portree and checked in with Effie behind the bar of the Pier Hotel. Himself and I were actually in a different building but both of the rooms had gorgeous views over the harbour.
It was completely unbelievable how busy Portree was. We had to try four separate restaurants before we could get in somewhere.
When we woke up the next morning, Boy had been up at sunrise to fly the drone over the harbour. What shots. absolutely amazing.
Then it was off to new adventures.
