There she is.
I remember exquisitely the morning my Dad handed Matt and I the keys to trucky, and got to relive the moment somewhat when Avuyile and Luzuko arrived this morning in the fully-decked ADT Teach vehicle, which was only a crossing-our-fingers (or, as they say here, holding thumbs) figment six months ago. Unfortunately, the first day of the program will have to be canceled due to an ongoing taxi strike. This is not your typical labor strike, since there is no union or employing entity with whom to negotiate, but instead it's just a lot of independent taxi drivers killing public transport workers, such as bus drivers, and stoning cars carrying more than one passenger - no word of a lie - because they're mad that the government has announced plans to expand public transport. Why anyone would want a 21st century train and bus system instead of riding around with these guys is beyond me. Two of our employees who live in the Khayaletsha township can't work for the next few days because the strikers have cut the power lines for the trains, and Avuyile was nearly shot but a rubber bullet the police meant for stoners (not the peaceful kind) this morning on his way to ADT to pick up the van. Nevertheless, we're at starting line, and we're ready.
