A little ray of sunshine

Today's walk was planned around avoiding the forecasted rain this afternoon, and swimming in this beautiful pool.

We were out the lodge by 9am and heading up the valley to the bottom of Hardknott Pass. The walk followed the river Esk with it's endless waterfalls and deep green pools. We got up the valley as far as the 90 degree bend in the river, giving a view up to Scafell Pike then returned down to a sheltered spot by a waterfall for a picnic. Then swim time for me.

The sun was still was still shining when we got back to the car so I opted for an extension to my walk, being dropped at Beckfoot Station to climb the fell to Blea Tarn and along the hill back to the lodge. A walk that was far less biggy than it ought to be in April. Nice for walking but with thoughts of all the moorland fires back at home this afternoon's torrential rainstorm was welcome.
