Some good news
I went to meet JD to find out about some good news she had for the both of us! There’s a farm on the outskirts of Edinburgh where, for the whole of April, they open up their doors and serve seasonal food - all grown on their farm. The tickets sell out for the month pretty quick, and we got there too late, but we put ourselves on the waiting list. At 3pm JD got a message saying they had a cancellation for tonight and could fit us in. For not knowing when the next offer might be, and not wanting to miss out on the opportunity, we said yes. So by 8pm we arrived at their lovely farm and was met by the owner, Angus, who gave us a quick rundown of what to expect. They serve a 4 course set menu and operate on a ‘pay what you feel’ policy. The food and atmosphere was absolutely amazing. Groups are sat at long tables next to strangers, a real emphasis is put on creating a friendly, open environment. We sat next to a lovely couple from Currie, who were great fun and had been before. The conversation was wonderful and the food didn’t disappoint. At the end the owner came round to chat to us and really made us feel at home. What a great way to escape not only the city but take a step out of the student bubble for a while. Neither JD nor I even thought about revision/exams for the whole night, and were taken aback by the whole experience. Highly recommend.
