Oskar
Seattle has an astonishing 1400 species of trees in the city limits, more than any other US city. When the first white settlers arrived in the mid 1800s, there were 33 “native" species. Went on a neighborhood tree walk this morning with expert Arthur Lee Jacobson…he’s extremely knowledgable.... and funny. Now if I could only remember a few of them! There's a coast redwood nearby that I've never noticed! Extra: he's telling us why this newly planted tree (Hornbeam?) by a huge newly constructed building may very well not survive here.
Here’s his website ..he’s written books and lots else ..http://www.arthurleej.com
Seattle is also the capital of cranes…one fell down this afternoon on our nearby route to downtown ..4 people were killed…So tragic. Not sure why…there was a pretty big wind at that time,…scary.
The blip needs to be Oskar as his family were all occupied and we got to take him out for pizza..lots of talking and stories. I love having one grandchild at a time,…a big part of his brain is filled with basketball these days. I couldn’t resist this photo ..that mop of yellow hair can shrink into this?
