Tulip Festival
As always Burnby Hall Tulip Festival was a delight.Spent the day there with K&A.
Although many were passed their best it was still a stunning display, and the gardens are beautiful.
We were pleased to see the cafe was still as good as always, and we all enjoyed a plate of Bits and Bobs. ( see extra photo)
I love the Stumpery, where I spotted the little robin. He certainly had a mouthful.( see extra)
Also love the little Hobbit House ( see extra)
In the newly restored Rock Garden we spotted a gorgeous little alpine Aquilegia. ( see extra)
Then it was on to the Canal Head, and a walk along the Pocklington Canal.
What a joy to hear our first Cuckoo.
Also saw a chiffchaff, although I have heard many.
The swan was still sat on her nest, however the moorhen chicks had hatched and we watched them for a while swimming with mum, and exploring the reeds.
We followed some orange tip butterflies, and I managed a photo of them doing what comes naturally!
Not a very good photo but have put it on as an extra.
We also spotted a young jack pike in the water. So very still. Looking like a log, until it moved.
Back home for tea and cakes at about 6pm.
After what we all agreed was a wonderful day.
All the joys of Spring.
