Wednesday: Building Blocks

As the conference food hasn't been overwhelming K. and I snuck out to a nearby diner this morning for breakfast. That kept me going nicely until lunchtime.

On the way back to the hotel, we discovered one of the things that makes Denver very quirky. As you walk over the grates in the street, you can hear a variety of noises coming up from below street level, such as loud snorting and grunting, opera singing or a brood of clucking chickens. Apparently, it's a city project to keep people amused. We felt reassured as we had originally thought we would need to mount a rescue operation.

The problem with conferences is that you have a sense of being in an interesting city but not getting to see any of it. This was a shot taken in desperation from our hotel window. I'm hoping things will vastly improve tomorrow.

Out with my colleague, Richard, based in Washington DC, for dinner.
