Actually this was funnier/sillier when I first thought of it - eggplants are only eggplants in the US (I think) - here in the UK they are aubergines, in SE Asia they are brinjals, in other parts of the world they are known as guinea squash, garden eggs and melongenes,   
In my house this morning it was known as a daisyegg.    :o))
