San Lorenzo
Today we caught the train to visit the Monasterio del Escorial, which is a historical residence of the King of Spain as well as a pantheon, a basilica, Covent, school and library. It’s enormous and after a 2+ hrs audio tour we were ready for a long lunch in a very pretty square in the sun.
We had a couple of hours chilling before heading out to the tapas bars, and one in particular was brilliant. Famous for its garlic mushrooms and an old guy playing an organ. As he took requests we were soon singing along to sounds of the 80’s which we’d requested. A few more drinks and more tapas bars and a rather tipsy gang headed home at 2am.
